The Scrub Tech will collaborate with medical, nursing, and ancillary staff to ensure the highest standard of surgical care. Whether you're a seasoned traveler or new to contract work, you'll be supported by a team that understands your goals and helps you thrive in your assignment.Position OverviewAs a Surgical Scrub Technologist, you'll keep a safe and professional environment while maintaining sterile field, preparing surgical instruments and supporting intraoperative procedures. You'll deliver patient-centered care across a variety of age groups and clinical needs in a fast-paced healthcare setting.Key Responsibilities:

  • Support & Instrumentation:
  • Selects and organizes surgical instruments and supplies based on procedure type, patient history, and preference cards.
  • Assists the surgical team in preparing for procedures, including scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and maintaining sterile technique.
  • Operates and handles specialized surgical equipment with confidence and precision.
  • Sterile Field Management:
  • Establishes and maintains a sterile field in compliance with AORN standards.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to breaks in sterility
  • Assists with draping the patient and receiving sterile supplies.
  • Infection Control & Safety:
  • Demonstrates proper instrument decontamination and sterilization techniques using steam autoclaves and high-level disinfectant systems
  • Handles sharps and hazardous materials safely to prevent injury and contamination.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
  • Performs instrument, sponge, and needle counts per policy, initiating corrective action for discrepancies
  • Accurately labels medications, solutions, and syringes in compliance with safety protocols
  • Maintains clean and orderly surgical environments, ensuring readiness for all procedures.
  • Teamwork & Mentorship:
  • Collaborates effectively with physicians, nurses, and support staff to provide exceptional care.
  • Serves as a preceptor and mentor to newly hired staff, supporting training and skill development.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
  • Must have BLS certification through AHA or RQI specifically
  • Must OR Tech or CST certification
  • Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation
  • Ability to adapt in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to patient safety and service excellence
