Job Description :

Performs diagnostic, non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams on patients using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart.
Testing modalities include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing.
Prepares patients for procedures, explains procedures, and provides instructions to obtain desired results and minimize patient anxiety.
Administers imaging enhancement agents according to department policies.
Contacts referring physician for clarification if exam order is suspected incorrect.
Utilizes hospital electronic medical record to review patient information, enter preliminary reporting, and document critical findings.
Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Adheres to organizational mission, values, standards, policies, safety initiatives, infection control, and patient confidentiality.
Demonstrates proficiency in performing non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams.
Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, interpretation criteria, and correlation of cardiac exam results with other hospital procedures.

Credentialed in echocardiography by one of the following organizations required at date of hire: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH).
