Position SummaryResponsible for administering radiation therapy using Varian Linear Accelerator (True Beam). Documentation completed in Meditech and Aria.

Education

• Graduate of an approved school of Radiation Therapy

License/Certification/Registration

• Current registration as a Radiation Therapist (RTT) with the ARRT(T)
• Meets the American Heart Association's standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews every two years

Essential Functions

• Check diagnosis, prescription, chart, and patient identification
• Explain planned treatment to patient, including communication methods during treatment and procedures to follow if problems arise
• Prepare treatment room and equipment according to prescription (immobilization devices, field size, treatment distance, etc.)
• Observe radiation safety measures for patients and personnel
• Maintain visual and audible communication with patient during treatment
• Operate and perform CT simulation procedures and equipment effectively
• Perform daily duties accurately and in a timely manner
• Conduct patient timeout per department policy
• Monitor treatment area for skin changes; discuss side effects or emotional concerns with patient and notify physician if necessary
• Assist with ordering supplies as needed
• Maintain complete and accurate records as required
• Comply with and participate in Quality Improvement programs
• Follow all department policies and procedures
• Maintain patient markings for treatment accuracy
• Perform scheduling and clerical duties to support departmental efficiency
• Perform safety checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning; report issues to physician in charge and supervisor
