  • Assessment skills across Pediatric to Geriatric patients with competent knowledge of growth and development stages.
  • Performs thorough, systematic, comprehensive, and accurate patient assessments.
  • Demonstrates competent clinical skills and provides appropriate nursing care to the unit's patient population.
  • Knowledge and skill in emergency equipment and procedures.
  • Maintains complete and accurate documentation of nursing process and patient progress, including patient education.
  • Demonstrates professional practice responsibility and knowledge of policies and procedures.
  • Responds professionally and courteously to patients, families, and co-workers, promoting a cooperative patient care environment.
  • Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Follows National Patient Safety Goals including Universal Protocol and patient identification.
  • Uses safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of surgical patient conditions, procedures, and equipment.
  • Individualizes patient care according to procedure and anesthesia type across care continuum.
  • Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedures and instructions.
  • Contributes to perioperative team by prioritizing and directing patient care based on needs and condition changes.
  • Assesses patient understanding of surgical procedures and instructions; includes patient and family in teaching.
  • Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessments and education.
  • Supports timely completion of patient testing and evaluates Pre Admission Testing orders for appropriateness based on surgery, age, and health.
  • Physical requirements as defined by Occupational Safety/OMS.
    Job Requirements
  • 1 year experience.
  • BLS - Required.
  • RN License - Required.
  • CNOR - Preferred.
    Unit Specific Information
  • Unit involves perioperative and operating room nursing care.
  • Knowledge of surgical patient conditions, procedures, and equipment required.
  • Care across continuum of anesthesia types.
  • Pre Admission Testing (PAT) responsibilities.
