Ultrasound Tech

Job Description:

Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Perform OB/GYN, vascular, neonatal, and abdominal sonograms.

-Obtain images according to protocols to include all pertinent patient and exam data on each film with optimal patient positioning and sonographic technique-Demonstrates competence in performing all ultrasound examinations, knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.-Ensures that patient charges are properly recorded into the computer system and procedures are tracked accurately.-Reads, understands and accurately implements physician's prescriptions/orders.-Thoroughly explains all procedures to patient, thus alleviating fears and/or anxiety.-Prepares room for patient and exam. Assure the room is clean and equipped with the necessary supplies.-Verifies name and properly identifies procedure being performed.-Assist the radiologist in performing ultrasound guided procedures.-Replace chemicals, films and processing equipment as needed.

Requirements:

-High school diploma or GED

-Graduate of an accredited School of Diagnostic Ultrasound.

-Two years' experience in OB/GYN ultrasound.

-ARDMS-registered or successful completion of ARDMS certification within first six months of employment.
