Job Title: Registered Nurse - Wound Care Profession: RN Specialty: Wound Care Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of Med/Surg experience; Wound and Colostomy experience License: Client RN License Certifications: Primary Source Verification of License and Registration of Registered Professional Nurse; AHA BLS; Current certification in one of the following: Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN), Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON), Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN), Certified Wound Specialist (CWS), Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC) Must-Have: - Two (2) years of Med/Surg experience - Wound and Colostomy experience - Client RN License - AHA BLS Certification - Current certification in wound care Description: Conduct health assessment interviews focused on wound, ostomy, and continence related care. Perform focused physical assessments and develop plans of care based on the diagnosis and individual client needs. Recommend medications and treatments as appropriate. Develop, revise, and evaluate standards of care. Assist in the selection of supplies, technology, and equipment. Assess and document patient responses to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatment. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by the clinical staff. Work collaboratively with the health care team and make referrals to other disciplines as indicated. Teach, counsel, and assist individuals and families in taking responsibility for preventing complications related to ostomies, wounds, or continence issues. Develop, provide, and evaluate staff education programs, including new employee orientation and continuing education programs. Provide comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries. Initiate preventative measures as necessary. Communicate and escalate challenges identified, including ethical issues and conflict resolution. Collaborate with nursing leadership to recommend best practices based on prudent assessment. Participate in quality improvement activities, including incidence and prevalence studies. Provide culturally competent education to patients, families, and staff while respecting diverse beliefs. Maintain the security and confidentiality of patient information according to patient rights policies. Achieve and maintain a level of professional competency through engagement in relevant activities. Identify available community resources to assist clients and help them utilize such resources. Manage assets related to rented equipment, such as specialty beds and negative pressure devices.
