Job Title : Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown – Contract
Location: New York, NY 10025
Shift: Day / Night (3x12)
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Weekly Breakdown: Weekly Gross: $2,540.00 Per Week On W2(Taxable): $720.00 Per Week Stipend(Non-Taxable): $1,820.00 Per Week
Summary: The Clinical Nurse (RN) is a Registered Professional Nurse who delivers safe, competent, and quality nursing care to a designated group of patients in the Stepdown Unit, utilizing the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and nursing standards within Mount Sinai's Relationship Centered Care model.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care
- Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans.
- Prioritize patient needs, ensuring timely rounding, teaching, discharge planning, and delegation.
- Educate patients and families about treatment, prevention, and health promotion.
2. Patient Experience
- Demonstrate Mount Sinai's Relationship Centered Care values.
- Perform purposeful hourly rounding and bedside reporting.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Engage in service recovery as needed and ensure culturally competent care.
3. Quality & Safety
- Participate in safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Escalate safety concerns following the institutional chain of command.
- Follow best practices and high reliability principles to minimize risk.
4. Operations
- Act as Charge Nurse when needed.
- Coordinate with leadership to manage resources efficiently.
- Facilitate patient flow and document accurately according to policy.
5. Professional Development
- Advance nursing knowledge and clinical skills.
- Actively participate in shared governance, unit-based projects, and continuing education.
- Mentor colleagues and foster an environment of continuous learning.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Accepted: Associate Degree in Nursing with relevant experience or active enrollment in a BSN program
Licenses & Certifications:
- Required: NYS Registered Nurse License
- Required: BLS Certification (AHA)
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years RN experience
- At least 2 years in cardiology, telemetry, or VAD nursing
- Preferred: 1 year travel RN experience (not required for per diem)
- Preferred: EPIC EHR experience
