Position Summary

The Quality/Risk Manager leads, designs, and supports the PRMC/DCT quality program, ensuring excellence in clinical quality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. This role works closely with hospital leadership to develop and implement quality improvement plans, serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for quality methodologies, and manages infection control, employee health, and occupational health programs. The position also oversees risk management activities, regulatory readiness, and staff performance within the quality department.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Patient Safety

  • Develop, monitor, and support the facility QAPI program to meet regulatory requirements in infection control, clinical quality, and business indicators.
  • Analyze quality data and present findings to leadership and committees.
  • Lead the development and implementation of clinical improvement initiatives, goals, and objectives.
  • Serve as the primary contact during regulatory surveys and accreditation preparation.
  • Act as a resource for quality theory, patient safety indicators, and improvement methodologies.

Risk Management

  • Conduct risk analyses, investigations, and root cause analyses.
  • Manage incident reporting systems (e.g., MIDAS) and patient complaint resolution.
  • Analyze trends in incidents, claims, and lawsuits, and report findings to all organizational levels.
  • Recommend and integrate changes to reduce harm and enhance patient safety.
  • Serve as Compliance Liaison and Patient Safety Officer.

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Lead and mentor quality department staff, conduct performance evaluations, and support staff engagement.
  • Oversee onboarding and retention processes for new hires.
  • Ensure department operations meet financial targets and stay within budget.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and healthcare partners.
  • Present to various audiences, ensuring effective communication of quality data and initiatives.
  • Foster a diverse, inclusive work environment aligned with organizational standards.
Required Skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret clinical quality data.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and report generation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Education & Experience
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in a clinical field OR bachelor's degree with healthcare experience (6 additional years of experience may substitute for degree).
  • Preferred: Master's degree.
  • 3–5 years of healthcare quality experience, with emphasis on data measurement, interdisciplinary support, and performance improvement.
Certifications
  • Required: RN License, CPPS (Certified Professional in Patient Safety), CPHQ (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality).
  • Preferred: Risk Management certification or other relevant quality certification.
Work Environment
  • Primary location: Plains Regional Medical Center, Clovis, NM.
  • Once-weekly travel to Tucumcari required.
