Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health) Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Current licensure as registered professional nurse in the state of Ohio Certifications: Not specified Must-Have: Knowledge of professional registered nursing procedures; state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures related to nursing; public relations; employee training and development; and inventory control. Description: Provides professional nursing care to patients in a developmental center. Observes, assesses, and records symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients. Makes nursing rounds and takes and records vital signs. Prepares and administers prescribed medications and treatment plans. Monitors patients on a timely basis and provides immediate medical attention to emergencies. Conducts first aid and arranges transportation to a hospital emergency room as needed. Counsels patients regarding the need for medical referrals. Schedules, assigns, and reviews work of lower-level staff if assigned. Participates in staff development and education. Reviews care plans written by staff and trains and orients new employees. Responsible for health care of bedridden patients, evaluates care needed and rendered. Handles care plans and teaches health care principles. Administers medication including narcotics and renders direct nursing care as needed. Performs specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, and CPR. Organizes and oversees emergency response teams and directs health care staff assigned to the area. Acts as a lead worker in charge of assigned shifts in the absence of senior nursing staff. Assists in giving diagnostic evaluations and performs clerical tasks related to patient care. Charts and records all medications and treatments. Completes required reports and documents pertinent medical information. Orders supplies and maintains inventory of controlled drugs and medications. Arranges for outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations. Performs administrative tasks and serves as a liaison within the organization. Conducts and attends meetings as necessary. Serves as an instructor or leader of problem-solving teams or groups as applicable. Works shifts, weekends, and holidays, and may be exposed to communicable diseases.
