Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) ensures the delivery of quality care by following individualized nursing care plans and supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. This role requires commitment to Select Medical's Core Values and a strong emphasis on patient and employee safety.

Core Responsibilities
  • Patient Care & Assessment
    • Complete nursing assessment for all patients within 8 hours of admission.
    • Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
    • Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the first day of admission.
    • Provide timely and accurate documentation of all assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Adhere to the “10 Foot Circle of Safety” principles.
    • Maintain awareness and compliance in areas such as safe patient handling, infection control, slip/trip/fall prevention, and environmental safety.
    • Follow hospital guidelines for personal appearance, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Team Collaboration & Communication
    • Share patient updates with physicians, charge nurses, and other care providers to ensure continuity of care.
    • Seek guidance from senior nurses for complex clinical decisions.
    • Participate in initial and weekly team conferences.
  • Leadership & Supervision
    • Direct, train, and supervise ancillary nursing staff.
    • Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure efficient workflow.
    • Assume charge nurse responsibilities when required.
  • Operational Efficiency
    • Monitor supplies, equipment needs, and related repairs.
    • Deliver cost-effective care while maintaining quality outcomes.
    • Report service needs to management promptly.
  • Professional Development
    • Pursue continuing education and self-study for skill enhancement.
    • Engage in team-building activities to maintain a positive work environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Certifications:
    • BLS – Required
    • ACLS – Required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years bedside clinical experience.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
