Job Description: RN - PACU /Location: New York, NY

Shift: Monday - Friday, 1:00 PM to 9:15 PM

Contract Duration: 8 Weeks

Weekly Breakdown: Weekly Gross: $3,543.00 Per Week On W2(Taxable): $1,240.00 Per Week Stipend(Non-Taxable): $2,303.00 Per Week

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for a PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) contract position at Mount Sinai Health System, located in New York, NY. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of PACU experience, including experience with postoperative management and medicated drips. This is a travel position with an estimated assignment period from 09/15/2025 to 11/08/2025, working 5 days a week with a daily shift of 7.5 hours.

Job Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

  • Deliver quality care in alignment with nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practices.
  • Assess and evaluate patient care needs using critical thinking skills for optimal care management.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in developing, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about the care plan, promoting health and preventing disease.
  • Prioritize patient care needs and delegate tasks as appropriate.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Patient Experience:

  • Role model the principles of Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care (MSHRCC) for enhanced patient satisfaction.
  • Address patient concerns through service recovery and escalation when necessary.
  • Engage in hourly rounding to assess patient care and satisfaction.

Quality and Safety:

  • Uphold high standards for patient safety and quality of care.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance care quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with teams to drive quality improvement initiatives, research studies, and evidence-based practices.

Operations:

  • Perform charge nurse duties as required, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with the Clinical Nurse Manager/Assistant Nurse Manager to manage staffing and supply needs.
  • Ensure accurate and thorough documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Facilitate patient throughput and efficient care delivery during your shift.

Professional Development:

  • Continuously improve clinical competence and promote lifelong learning.
  • Participate in shared decision-making and contribute to nursing department committees.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • NYS RN License required.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience.
  • Experience with medicated drips and post-operative care management.
  • Travel nursing experience preferred (1 year for travel positions, not required for per diem positions).
  • EPIC system experience is highly preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a 2:1 patient ratio in PACU, with a 5:1 ratio in Phase 2.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) will be considered with relevant experience and/or active enrollment in a BSN program.
