Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PMDescriptionProvides respectful, patient-centered care that promotes mutual respect, informed consent, and shared decision-making.Delivers birthing care while respecting autonomy, dignity, and diversity across all protected group statuses.Applies the nursing process to meet the age-specific needs of patients in all care aspects: biophysical, psychosocial, education, safety/environment, and discharge planning.Utilizes appropriate decision-making steps and prioritizes care and unit-based issues.Administers blood and blood products per policy.Collaborates and communicates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.Integrates patient rights and nursing ethics into daily practice.Follows infection control standards to minimize risk of infection.Adheres to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.Delegates appropriately in line with the State Nurse Practice Act.Follows the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics and Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice.Supports and practices within the Professional Nursing Practice Model.Promotes and upholds Magnet model principles.Participates in performance improvement initiatives.Completes competency and mandatory in-service requirements.Attends required staff meetings.Implements cost containment practices.May assume Charge Nurse duties.Performs other related responsibilities as assigned.RequirementsGraduate of an accredited nursing school with current New York RN license/registrationBSN requiredKnowledge of current nursing, medical, and healthcare trends and practicesOne year of acute care experience preferred (excluding med-surg and step-down)BLS certification (American Heart Association) requiredACLS certification (American Heart Association) required for all RNs except NICU and ORNewly hired inexperienced nurses must obtain ACLS within 12 monthsNewly hired experienced nurses must obtain ACLS within 6 monthsPALS certification (American Heart Association) required for RNs in PACU, Pediatrics, ED, Ambulatory Surgery unitsNRP certification required for RNs in Mother-Baby, Labor & Delivery, and NICUNew hires in NICU, L&D, or Mother-Baby must obtain NRP within 6 monthsDirect oncology care RNs must demonstrate either current cancer-specific certification or complete 36 cancer-related CE hours every 3 yearsRNs in Emergency Department must complete de-escalation training within 1 year of transfer or hireSuccessful completion of department and unit orientation required
