The nurse will be responsible for managing a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg with 26 beds. Primary patient care includes those with congestive heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, post-device care (pacemakers), and patients with arrhythmias. BLS certification is required. Experience in cardiac monitoring and emergency response is essential, including the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Competency in the use of Rapid Response/Code teams is necessary. IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including peripheral line care and management, are required. Nursing responsibilities will include respiratory care with nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tank use, and non-invasive airway management. Knowledge of isolation precautions is expected. Floating to other units may be required. Proficiency in electronic health records is required. The unit primarily cares for adult patients across various medical conditions.
