Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Long-Term Care (LTC) Duration: 22 Weeks Shift: Part-Time Days/Nights Hours per Shift: EOW and Holiday required Experience: Minimum 1 year as a RN in Long-Term Care License: NY RN License Certifications: BLS (through AHA) Must-Have: LTC experience Description: The RN must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the life span. The RN must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements. The RN will provide the care needed by the adult and geriatric patient groups. Direct and indirect skilled nursing care will be provided for assigned residents. The RN will follow defined policies and procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The RN must maintain a collaborative relationship with other nursing staff, physicians, and ancillary staff. The RN should maintain an appropriate level of knowledge and clinical expertise through continuing education and in-service programs. The RN must collect data relevant to the resident's physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis. Findings should be communicated to the Supervisor and other members of the interdisciplinary team. The RN must contribute to the creation of a developmentally age-appropriate and culturally relevant plan of resident care. This plan should reflect nursing diagnosis and interventions to achieve desired resident outcomes. The resident and family should be involved in this process while promoting a healthy, safe environment. The RN is responsible for recommending revisions to the plan of care after evaluating resident outcomes. The RN will indicate the need for referrals to ensure all aspects of the resident's care have been addressed. Collaboration with the resident, family, and members of the interdisciplinary team is essential. Customer satisfaction must be assured within the scope of nursing practice. The RN should maintain current knowledge and competency in nursing practice. Participation in the mentoring/orientation of staff is expected. Factors related to safety, cost, and impact must be considered in planning the delivery of care. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, providing leadership in the professional practice setting is required. Demonstration of knowledge and competency is essential. Occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
