Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Women's Services Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night shifts (3x12) Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: - BLS - ACLS - PALS - NRP - STABLE - AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: - Minimum of one year in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Newborn Nursery, and OB Triage - Experience in MedSurg preferred - Willingness to float to MedSurg Description: This is a Labor and Delivery unit with a capacity of 1 labor room and 1 LDRP room. Labor nurses will follow patients and provide couplet care. C-sections are performed in the operating room. Labor and Delivery RNs will attend C-sections as the baby nurse only. The unit has 2 triage beds and 2 postpartum beds. The facility averages 200 births per year. The nurse-to-patient ratio for laboring patients is 1:1, and 1:3 for couplets. There are 2 RNs on each shift. Nurses are required to titrate drips, including Oxytocin and Magnesium. Charge RNs are present on each shift, with supervisors available for 11 out of 14 shifts. There are shared nursing assistants between units for support. OB doctors are on call, and Anesthesia is readily available with a 30-minute call-back time. Respiratory therapy equipment includes CPAP. There are no dedicated monitor techs; RNs will need to interpret strips. The electronic fetal monitoring system is used to monitor patients. Shift schedules are managed by leadership, with preferences usually met. Weekend requirements include a minimum of five weekend shifts per six-week schedule. Holiday requirements will be based on unit needs. There is no call or standby requirement. Nurses may be asked to assist in MedSurg when Women's census is low. Scrubs must be clean and professional, with no specific color required. There will be two days of floor orientation for the RN. Support will be available from the MedSurg team as needed. All candidates must adhere to a local radius rule.
