Job Summary: ICU RN – Neuro Focus (Night Shift)Location: Chesapeake, VAFacility Type: Community HospitalShift: Night, 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30) – 48-hour contract available (OT after 48)Duration: 13 weeks (Contract Weeks: 91)Guaranteed Hours:48License Required: Active VA or Compact RN License in hand at submission – no exceptionsCOVID Vaccine: requiredFlu Vaccine: Required (Declinations Allowed)Required Experience & Qualifications:

• Experience:
  • Strong Neuro ICU Experience Required: post-neurosurgical care, EVD, stroke management
  • Vents, IV Drip Titration, Telemetry Monitoring, Conscious Sedation, Emergency Management
  • Minimum 3 years Critical Care preferred
  • EPIC Charting Experience – Required
  • Travel Experience – Preferred
• Certifications (All Required):
  • BLS (AHA only)
  • ACLS (AHA only)
  • NIHSS
• Float Requirements:
  • Must float to Stepdown, and potentially to ED/MedSurg to care for ICU-level patients

Patient Populations:

• Neurosurgical & post-stroke
• Respiratory & Renal Failure
• Post-surgical
• Trauma
• Sepsis/MODS
• Heart failure & post-cardiac cath

Unit Ratios:

• Typical Ratio: 1:2–3

Skills Required:

• Neuro ICU (EVD, ICP monitoring, stroke management, traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, lumbar drains)
• Vent management, Suctioning (ETT/NT), High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• IV drip titration: Cardiac & vasoactive
• Arterial lines, CVP monitoring, Emergency meds, Dysrhythmia management
• Procedural/conscious sedation
• Renal support: CVVHD/CRRT
• Chest tube care, Fresh trachs, BiPAP/CPAP
• Multisystem organ failure, Trauma ICU
• Blood products, 12-lead EKG, Central/PICC line care
• Start IVs, Post-op surgical care
