Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day or Night Shift Hours per Shift: 34.50 Experience: 3-5 years in a Level I or II Trauma Center preferred. License: BSN required Certifications: TCAR, BLS, ACLS, PALS, AHA Stroke certification required. Must-Have: - Completed BSN - TCAR - PALS - ACLS - BLS Description: Utilize the nursing process in the provision of direct patient care. Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating all care provided to assigned patients. Delivery of care is based on the standards of care and practices established by the Department of Nursing and other policies and procedures. Diagnose and treat human responses to actual and potential health problems through services such as case finding, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of care supportive or restorative to life and well-being. Supervise patient care provided by licensed practical nurses, registered nurses on permit, nursing attendants, technicians, and supplemental staff. Responsibilities: Assess the immediate and continuing care needs of the patient and significant other. Develop comprehensive and current plans of care which include physical needs, patient teaching, discharge planning, and psychosocial/spiritual needs. Provide direct patient care based on assessed needs and the medical regimen. Oversee and ensure the provision of all aspects of care for the patient. Supervise the care provided by other nursing personnel as defined in the scope of practice. Observe, evaluate, document, and communicate to relevant team members the patient's response to illness and/or therapeutic modalities. Ensure timely reassessment of patient responses to treatment and significant changes in patient condition and/or diagnosis. Coordinate the overall plan of care to ensure implementation of nursing interventions and consistency with medical regimen. Establish priorities for care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Initiate follow-up to ensure timely provision of patient care and therapeutic modalities. Assure the plan of care integrates age-specific care needs. Accept responsibility and accountability for nursing interventions and outcomes based on professional clinical judgments. Participate in quality improvement activities related to patient care delivery and the development of nursing standards. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and manage stressful situations appropriately. Facilitate interpersonal relationships with other disciplines. Other Responsibilities: Participate in the orientation of nursing staff. Assume charge responsibilities as delegated. Ensure appropriate coverage of all patients by assisting and relieving co-workers. Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff. Serve as a clinical resource for student nurses. Participate in meetings, committees, conferences, and educational programs. Engage in research and pilot projects supported by the Nursing Department. Demonstrate responsibility for continuing professional growth and education. Participate in appropriate professional and community organizations.
