Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS ACLS PALS NIHSS Must-Have: ICU experience Description: All submissions must include a copy of the candidate's unexpired driver's license. Unit consists of 4 beds. Nurse to patient ratio is 1 to 2. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS. Common diagnoses and types of patients include respiratory failure, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, suicide, detox, some medical-surgical overflow, and occasional pediatric cases. Experience with titrating drips is required. Common titratable and set rate drips include propofol, cardizem, insulin, precedex, and levo. There is a house supervisor on the unit, but no charge nurse. One clinical assistant is available most days, 24 hours a day, depending on the census. Hospitalists or intensivists are in-house. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Equipment includes vents, CPAP, and BiPAP. Registered nurses monitor and read strips for both medical-surgical and ICU patients. Shifts are 12 hours, from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM. Extra shifts may be available, and the manager is open to block scheduling. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. Holiday requirements rotate with regular staff. There is no call or standby requirement. If the census is low, nurses may float to medical-surgical as needed. Scrub color and dress code are flexible, with a few restrictions. The unit will provide an orientation, including a review with the manager, a tour, introductions, and discussions about policies. Training on the unit will take 3 to 5 days. Charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required. Candidates must possess the required certifications. This is an acute care setting.
