Pay Information $2,182 per week About The Position Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Duration: Part Time Shift: Day/Night/Weekend/Holiday Rotational Hours per Shift: 12 hours (2 shifts) 2 On-Call Shifts per 4 weeks Experience: Two years of acute hospital experience as an RN; One year of Emergency Department experience as an RN License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification Must-Have: - Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least one year in an Emergency Department environment Description: The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively provides direct care. They apply appropriate interventions and evaluate patient progress. The ED RN demonstrates skill in the use of various invasive and non-invasive procedures and treatments necessary to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations. They utilize principles of relationship-based care to alleviate anxiety, provide information, and address pain, discomfort, and safety. The ED RN assesses the physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients of all age groups and their families as appropriate. They connect with patients and families during triage and identify the initial management of patients. The ED RN assigns priority of care according to established Triage Standards. They establish rapport with patients and families, address comfort needs, listen carefully, and assess nonverbal communication while providing frequent updates. The ED RN conducts primary assessments of critical needs, detecting and documenting any major deviations from the norm within acceptable time frames. They correctly identify the necessary interventions and required steps. Using direct observation, patient and family interviews, EMS reports, and data, they conduct thorough secondary assessments. The ED RN identifies contributing factors, health history, and events preceding health emergencies. They assess the psychosocial needs of individuals and document any suspicions of domestic violence or abuse for all age groups. The ED RN reassesses patients to evaluate responses to treatment and changes in condition, responding appropriately. They encourage mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve the best patient outcomes. The ED RN teaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks consistent with individual education and training. They understand the personal responsibility to ensure public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies. The ED RN prepares patients, parents, or families for diagnostic procedures and treatments. They make appropriate referrals for post-emergency care and teach patients about continuing care at home. They assess patient and family learning styles and structure educational sessions accordingly. The ED RN asks questions to evaluate the retention of key points during education and discharge instructions. They seek to understand the key priorities of patients and families, recognizing them as central to all care and services. The ED RN embraces the importance of creating a healing environment as a key aspect of professional nursing practice. They keep patients and significant others informed of the care process and anticipate their needs.
