Minimum of 1 year ER experience is required. First-time travelers are accepted. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS. Patient-to-nurse ratios will be 1:5 with mixed/shared acuity levels. Accommodating a block schedule may be possible but is not guaranteed. Travelers are required to float when census warrants. Minimal request for time off is preferred. Every other weekend is required. Required skills include general emergency department care, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, starting IVs, administration of continuous IV paralytics and sedation, emergency medications, and IV vasopressors. Experience with procedural sedation and CVA management is necessary. Isolation precautions are also a required skill. Typical patient age groups vary from neonates to geriatrics. The unit has a daily census of 64 patients with an expected volume of 145 visits per day. Staffing will include support from various interdisciplinary teams. Nurses will be expected to manage a variety of patient diagnoses. Experience with EPIC charting system is highly preferred. Candidates must float as necessary based on patient census.
