Albany Med is the busiest Trauma Center in New York State. As a Level One Trauma Center, our multi-disciplinary emergency team works around the clock to provide the most advanced care found in the Northeast. We are a regional Level One Trauma Center, serving a large area of Upstate New York and the Northeast region. Our services include a Comprehensive Stroke Center, STEMI and Advanced Critical Care Services.

Requirements: Active NY RN license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Able to accept Med/Surg Nurses who will work with our adult observation patients and admissions in ED. TNCC preferred.

Advanced skills needed: External ventricular drains, set-up and monitoring of arterial lines, set-up and use of Belmont rapid infuser, set-up and assessment of a chest tube, experience using a Zoll, assistance with rapid sequence intubation (medication and room set-up) and assessment of mechanically ventilated patients, comfort following protocols (i.e., Heparin drip, restraints, and DKA), obtain EKG, experience with a Panda warmer and LUCAS preferred, transvenous pacing

Procedures performed on unit: Neurosurgical interventions (EVD, SEPS drain), Procedural sedation, post-thrombectomy care, any procedures that require the Advanced skills listed above
