Job Description & RequirementsBLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC REQUIREDUnit Information: Emergency DepartmentLocation: Emergency DepartmentAddress: 100 McGregor StFloor: ABuilding: 2004 BuildingGeneral InformationTell us about the unit(s):• Number of Beds - 4 in Annex (a secure locked psychiatric area holding for placement)25 procedure rooms (rooms with curtains or doors)8 hallway beds (utilized 24/7)• Number of Staff - 88 (combined job titles)• Type of staff:o 7a-3a -1 Charge RN 7RN 3ED Techs 2RP Annex: 1 RN and 1 ED Techo 3a-7a -- 1 Charge RN 6 RN 2 ED Tech 1RP Annex: 1 RN and 1 ED Tech• Patient Ratios - 4:1 (flexibility in times of acute surge)• Type of equipment - U/S IV skills, Lucas Device, Hotline Rapid Infuser, Alaris pumps, Pyxis• EMR - Sunrise/ Allscripts• Patient Population - Multiple comorbidities, NEHI (New England Heart Institute) patients- complicated heart conditions, DKA, Sepsis, Trauma, StrokeTypical hiring profileSkill Set Most recruited for:Must have : candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.• At least 2 years ED experience for contract labor• BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC for contract labor• Adaptability• Strong communication skills with patients and peers• Strong assessment skills• Dependability and punctuality• Strong critical thinking skills• Strong understanding of medical terminology (department coordinators)Preferred or nice to have : candidates with these skills will be considered first.• At least one year ED experience for HCA hired staff• BLS/ACLS/PALS/MOAB/TNCC for HCA hired staff• Strong understanding of EKG interpretationList typical procedures performed on unit(s):• Trauma• Stroke Care• Laceration repair• Orthopedic trauma• U/S IV insertion• IO insertion• Eye exam• EKG• Psychiatric care• Cardiopulmonary careBest personality Fit:• Motivated hard worker, creative problem solver, general desire to help and care for patientsREQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:• BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC preferred (must for contract labor)Floating Area(s):• noneDress Code :• Scrub Color/Attire - no hooded shirts or sweatshirts (safety)Unit Guidelines/Policies : Please feel free to attach unit policies and guidelines.• RN's working with policy written protocols based off chief complaint.Able to order complete work up of labs, EKG, x-rays, medications (protocol based) to initial patient careWeekends and On-call (if any)• Every other weekend for contract labor (RN), every third for HCA hired staff (RNs, Medics, ED Techs), every other weekend for department coordinators
