Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed healthcare professional responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered care within a designated timeframe. Using critical thinking, clinical skills, and collaboration with the healthcare team, the RN ensures safe, effective, and compassionate care. This role integrates the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—while upholding the core values of the Division of Nursing and maintaining high standards of clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Clinical Practice
- Conducts ongoing, holistic assessments, including physiological, psychological, and cognitive status.
- Analyzes assessment data to develop appropriate nursing diagnoses.
- Establishes individualized patient goals and expected outcomes.
- Develops prioritized care plans based on assessments and diagnoses.
- Identifies educational needs of patients/significant others and provides appropriate teaching.
- Implements nursing interventions competently and consistently.
- Documents care in a timely, accurate, and concise manner.
- Evaluates patient outcomes and adjusts care plans accordingly.
Professional Nursing Performance
- Demonstrates clinical competence and sound decision-making for the assigned patient population.
- Responds effectively to emergency situations, following protocols and maintaining composure.
- Follows all applicable policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Participates in hourly rounding to ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Maintains accountability for own professional development and practice.
- Adheres to ethical and legal standards in all aspects of patient care.
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborates effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Maintains open, respectful, and timely communication with all care team members.
- Supports flexible staffing and contributes positively to team dynamics.
- Participates in performance evaluations and ongoing education initiatives.
Education & Development
- Maintains required competencies for assigned clinical area.
- Actively engages in staff development and continuing education.
