**Job Title: Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Travel Position)****Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift****Facility Overview:**Join a dynamic inpatient psychiatric unit dedicated to providing high-quality care for adults and adolescents. Our facility has a total of 18 adult inpatient beds and 12 child & adolescent beds, with a focus on creating a therapeutic environment that promotes mental wellness.**Position Summary:**We are seeking a compassionate Psychiatric Registered Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will provide exceptional nursing care to patients experiencing a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses. This role will involve collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and therapeutic engagement while delivering high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced environment.**Key Responsibilities:**- Deliver direct patient care by monitoring vital signs, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and gathering patient assessments.- Engage patients in therapeutic group activities focusing on coping strategies, self-expression, and recreational interactions.- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment by participating in de-escalation efforts and responding to crises when necessary.- Work collaboratively with psychiatric technicians, unit clerks, and other nursing staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.- Oversee medication administration in coordination with an assigned medication nurse.- Participate in the development and implementation of patient care plans.**Patient Population:**- Adult patients (18 years and older) and Child & Adolescent patients (6-18 years) with various psychiatric diagnoses.**Requirements:**- Must possess valid NY RN license or proof of application for one.- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in psychiatric nursing; prior travel nursing experience is preferred.- Certification in AHA BLS and CPI or equivalent (required).- Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records system.**Schedule:**- 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.- Weekend and holiday work required (2 out of 3 major holidays).**Floating Requirements:**- May float within the psychiatric department and occasionally to medical units for 1:1 patient care.**Dress Code:**- Nurses to wear navy blue scrubs, while Mental Health Technicians may choose any color scrubs.
