This position is located in an acute care setting that provides services in a Medical Surgical Unit.

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

The role involves 12-hour day shifts, with weekends and holidays scheduled as required.

Job Description

The Medical Surgical Unit houses 52 private beds and requires Registered Nurses to provide comprehensive nursing care. The setting supports both post-operative and general medical patients, and knowledge of various procedures and conditions is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to a patient ratio of 1:6-7, primarily 1:7 for day and night shifts.
• Manage a full patient assignment while collaborating with a Clinical Assistant.
• Work in concert with IV, Respiratory Therapy, and Pharmacy teams available 24/7.
• Assess and monitor patients' health, documenting all findings in the electronic medical record (EPIC).
• Assist in the management of various medical conditions, including surgical post-ops and chronic illnesses.
• Participate in hospital rotations as necessary.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS (American Heart Association) certification is required.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification is required.
• Experience with ACLS is preferred.
• A current and unexpired nursing license is required.
