Duties: Job Summary: Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals. Job Responsibilities: -Evaluating medical information, as well as providing direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre-and post-surgery patients. -Preparing, administering and recording prescribed medications. -Changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs. -Adjusting specialized medical equipment as needed, as well as interpreting and recording measurements. -Monitoring patients' vitals and reporting adverse reactions to medications in a timely manner. -Collaborating on discharge planning with the healthcare team. -Answering questions and educating patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care. -Maintaining and updating patient files, medical charts, and health records. -Adhering to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols. Skills: Required Skills & Experience: -Acute Facilities: Minimum two (2) years Med/Surg experience in a large acute care hospital setting. The most recent experience should be within the past year. -Post Acute Facilities: Minimum two (2) years Med/Surg experience in either Post Acute Facility or acute care hospital setting. The most recent experience should be within the past year. --Qualified candidates demonstrate proficiency with skills including: -Physical assessment. -Medication administration. -Wound care & Infection control. -IV therapy. -Post-operative care. -Patient education. -Telemetry monitoring. Preferred Skills & Experience: -EPIC EMR experience. Schedule Notes: - Minimum two (2) years Med/Surg experience in a large acute care hospital setting. - The most recent experience should be within the past year. - Please review responsibilities & skills needed. Required: - Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited educational institute. - Self-Assessment Skills Checklist and Specialty Exam for Med/Surg. - New York State RN License & Primary Source Verification. - AHA BLS. - Shift: 7:00 AM-7:30 PM - Rotating weekends is a requirement and workers must report as scheduled including holidays. - Please see the shift time, hours per week/day on the request and ensure your worker will be able to commit to the schedule provided by the facility.
