Behavioral Health - LVN/LPN - Evenings

We are seeking experienced and compassionate LVNs/LPNs for a behavioral health setting supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who may also have complex medical or behavioral needs. This is a 26-week contract (minimum) with full-time hours and a dynamic care environment.

Job Details:
  • Start Dates: Orientations are held on the 1st and 16th business day of each month. Start dates are contingent on the completion of all compliance requirements.
  • Schedule: Evening shift, 5x8s (2:00 pm – 10:00 pm); alternating shifts to meet staffing needs; every other weekend required.
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 9–10 patients depending on care level; lower ratios for higher-need individuals.
  • Floating: Nurses are oriented to multiple units and floated based on need; agency nurses float first.
  • Setting: 700+ bed campus caring for a wide range of individuals with developmental disabilities, medically fragile needs, and behavioral issues.
  • Training: 6-week orientation — 2 weeks classroom, 2 weeks nursing training, 2 weeks with preceptor.
  • EMR: Iris/Cerner
  • Scrubs: TBD
  • Parking: Onsite
  • Pay Cycle: Weekly (Sunday–Saturday)
Requirements:
  • Licensure: Active Texas LVN or LPN license
  • Certifications: AHA BLS required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years of experience as an LVN/LPN
    • At least 1 year of experience in a facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities or medically fragile units
    • Experience with high-volume med pass
    • Nursing home experience is a plus
    • Clinic, home health, and hospice experience do not typically align with medication administration expectations in this setting
  • Additional Expectations:
    • Clear verbal and written communication
    • Must be able to collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and residents
    • Will be required to float without additional orientation when needed
    • Must comply with immunization, fingerprinting, and drug screening requirements
