Job Details- Under direct supervision of the supervisor, performs patient examinations and related activities; performs patient exams in accordance with established protocols, demonstrates knowledge ofdigital environment; reviews images prior to archiving to PACS and for submission to radiologists for interpretation, maintains patient records and knowledgeable in RIS system; assures the correct patient is being imaged in accordance to hospital protocol of checking at least two patient identifiers prior to completing examination, and patient's clinical history is complete; completes associated paperwork, performs QA/QC on equipment, as needed.
- Stocks exam rooms with basic supplies, starts IV's and/or administers contrast as needed, maintains and adheres to accepted sterile techniques and provides clean environment within examination area.
- Provides student technologists with the basic procedural concepts within responsible modality.
- Shares emergency calls, as required.
- Demonstrates appropriate computer skills.
- Possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also possesses knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skill to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
- Knowledgeable of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice.
- Computed Tomography (C.T.) Technologist is a highly skilled professional who uses specialized computerized x-ray equipment to produce cross-sectional images of the human anatomy which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders.
- Actively utilizes the ALARA principle on all exams performed.
- Practices proper radiation shielding when possible.
- Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Utilizes technical aptitude for dealing with and troubleshooting multiple pieces of Radiology equipment including but not limited to Facility EMR, RIS, PAC's, GE Optima 580W, GE AW workstation, MedRad power injectors.
- Safely maintains the sterile field, and assists the Radiologist as needed.
- Properly identifies patients who present for testing.
- Routinely verifies orders and performs said orders.
- Properly places orders for testing in the hospital's computer system.
- Monitors supply levels and orders supplies accordingly.
- Collects, labels, and delivers biopsy specimens to Lab in a timely manner.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
- Utilizes ability to work within Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Possesses the ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for both yourself and/or patient.
- Is competent to access and utilize EMR for the provision of patient care.
- Is competent in image post processing on GE AW workstation for CTA's and calcium scoring.
- Follows scan protocols and adjusts scan parameters as necessary.
- Completes all Radiology consent forms prior to starting a procedure.
- Possesses the ability to multitask and work in multiple systems simultaneously.
- Prints patient CD's, and properly identifies the correct patient who receives CD.
- Operates head or body x-ray scanners which create a computer-generated cross-sectional image, commonly called a CAT (Computed Axial Tomography) Scan.
Job Requirements- One (1) year as a staff technologist.
- CT scanning experience.
