Position Summary: Palomar Health Rehabilitation Institute is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for a travel assignment. The ideal candidate will support occupational therapy services in a dynamic rehabilitation environment, assisting patients in regaining functional independence following injury, surgery, or illness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized treatment programs developed by supervising Occupational Therapist
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, self-care strategies, and mobility training
- Monitor patient progress and communicate observations to the OT and clinical team
- Document daily treatment notes and adhere to facility and regulatory requirements
- Participate in care team meetings and contribute to patient discharge planning
- Maintain treatment areas and equipment in safe and functional condition
- Educate patients and caregivers on continued therapy strategies and home programs
Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current California COTA license or eligibility
- Active BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred, ideally in a rehab or hospital setting
- Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Strong clinical judgment and time management abilities
