Job Details- The Bone Density Technologist works under the supervision of Mammography Center Manager.
- Develops and implements improved processes and protocols related to the bone density program.
- Performs bone density procedures in accordance with Radiation Practice standards, ACR, The Joint Commission, and departmental policies.
- Performs and/or assists with Quality Assurance activities related to bone density.
- Performs any combination of the primary duties depending on area of assignment.
Job Requirements- Performs bone density exams daily under facility approved policies and procedures and in accordance with Radiation Practice Standards and ACR.
- Works with Medical Director and Manager to improve bone density processes, protocols, and policies.
- Serves as a primary resource for office managers and office staff regarding bone density questions.
- Obtains or reviews patient's medical history and physician orders prior to performing studies and notifies appropriate staff of inconsistencies.
- Explains procedures to patients and completes comprehensive documentation.
- Selects appropriate technical factors from technique charts and operates equipment in accordance with prescribed Radiation Safety Practices.
- Prepares completed bone density studies for interpretation in a timely manner including appropriately identified images and all associated forms.
- Able to perform and/or assist with Quality Assurance activities related to bone density.
- Reports changes in patient's condition to Radiologist for follow-up.
- Assists with emergency medical treatment under physician direction.
- Assists with scheduling of patient exams if needed.
- Attends regularly scheduled department meetings and in-services.
