Must have experience in Logistics/Transportation dispatching of Class A Drivers.
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm. Some on-call work on weekends required.
Responsibilities:
- Assign, direct, monitor, and ensure proper completion of tasks for dispatchers and transportation clerks. Motivate employees to meet productivity, cost, and quality standards.
- Supervise routing, scheduling, and data entry for all shipments. Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are properly processed within the TMS.
- Provide safety training, ensure adherence to safety precautions and PPE use. Communicate weekly safety messages to increase safety awareness.
- Train, coach, develop, and correct employee performance according to company policies. Provide input for disciplinary actions, appraisals, merit increases, promotions, and terminations to the Dispatch Manager.
- Promote good customer service relations internally and externally by resolving service issues promptly and professionally.
- Communicate with drivers regarding route assignment errors to keep them on track for real-time updates.
- Work independently and make decisions on driver/route assignments to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries.
- Ensure proper use of the E-Log System for tracking and communication. Troubleshoot basic issues in WMS and TMS systems.
- Provide customer updates on pickup/delivery status via email, websites, or phone.
- Update various reports for internal and external customers.
- Perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Manager.
Candidate Attributes:
- Minimum 10 years of dispatch experience with Class A drivers.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with reefer and dry van grocery dispatching preferred.
- Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks in a busy environment.
- Excellent follow-through on commitments and deadlines.
