**Description**

Stanley Consultants is seeking a Manager to oversee the operations of our Transportation Structural Group, a large component of our Transportation Market. This person will be responsible for the execution of day-to-day operations at the national Group level, including measurement and progress of performance, and supervise Department Managers within the Structural Group at multiple locations across the U.S. to meet established objectives.

**Essential Duties include:**

* Manages and leads Department Managers within the Group; provides project team support, support of the technical organization, and support of business development. May also have responsibilities as Department Manager.

* Sets clear expectations with direct reports, develops, coaches, mentors, communicates, provides feedback, and evaluates performance.

* Ensures that members and teams are supported by a work environment conducive to high productivity, collaboration, safety, and overall member engagement and satisfaction.

* Accountable for the objectives established for attracting, retaining and developing talent.

* Optimizes staff utilization within the Group, and coordinates workshare required within the Transportation Market Sector.

* Coordinates workload between department managers and reviews performance to ensure efficient, cost-effective utilization of members.

* Monitors progress and performance of Group to assure quality processes are followed.

* Supervises and develops department managers to meet established objectives, including utilization, task performance and quality controls, and builds team morale.

* Recommends hiring, salaries, career progression, mentoring, promotion, transfer, demotion, and termination of members.

* Provides assistance to market operations leader as needed to facilitate enterprise initiatives.

* Reviews and approves scopes and fees for new proposals.

* Serves as Project Manager on projects.

* Ensures that Group resource plans are completed on a timely basis.

* Responsible for and reports department status, results and performance, and solution of Group problems.

* Oversees the manner in which departments execute company standards, procedures and policies.

**Background Requirements Include:**

* Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.

* Requires at least 20 years of relevant work experience.

* Requires at least 5 years of experience in a management/leadership role.

* Requires 5 years of Project Management experience.

* Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

* Demonstrated success of delivering project and business results (key metrics include: group staff utilization, project profit performance, staff & capabilities development, and member retention).

* Strong leadership skills are a must.

* Must be an effective and proactive problem solver.

* Must be a team player.

* Must be capable and comfortable coordinating and communicating over the phone and through video-conferencing with anyone on the Transportation Market team.

* Must be reliable and dependable.

* Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

* Able to travel periodically for visits to the design offices.

**Background Preferences Include:**

* Masters level degree in technical structural engineering field preferred.

* Project experience and client relationships in multiple states.
