The Transportation Manager is responsible for the strategic development and overall leadership of the Transportation Practice within Nebraska & Iowa. The role involves leading the business line development based on Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety, and outstanding service. Key responsibilities include managing transportation projects for DOT and municipal clients, business development, scope and fee development, contracting, staffing, risk management, project oversight, quality control, and financial performance. The Transportation Manager will work closely with the Regional Office Manager and Transportation Leadership Team to set regional strategic goals.

Responsibilities include:
  • Developing and implementing long-term strategic and operational plans, including marketing and pricing strategies.
  • Managing client relationships and participating in proposal and project pursuits.
  • Leading pursuit strategies and proposal development.
  • Serving as a client account manager for transportation clients, ensuring project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Monitoring project health, coordinating multidisciplinary activities, and ensuring quality and safety standards.
  • Recruiting, hiring, developing, and evaluating staff.
  • Analyzing project financials and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Adhering to safety programs and promoting safety culture.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related field; minimum 7 years relevant consulting experience; 10+ years preferred.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Nebraska and Iowa preferred.
  • Experience in client and business development, project management, and team leadership.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools like Microsoft Project.
