JOB SUMMARY:Under direct supervision, this position reviews and updates transcripts as well as enters information into the student information system for the College. Duties include: ensuring the integrity of all academic records in compliance with state and College policy as well as accreditation standards; collaborating with other departments to ensure a streamlined and effective admissions process; and communicating with prospective students and College staff/faculty.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Independently researches course descriptions and course catalogs from source documentation.
- Evaluates credentials (transcripts) of applicants.
- Evaluates previously earned credits from other postsecondary institutions to determine academic placement.
- Evaluates the applicability and equivalency of prior postsecondary coursework in relation to the current program.
- Evaluates and posts credit earned through multiple accelerated mechanisms, including AP, CLEP, IB, and AICE testing programs as prescribed by the statewide Articulation Coordinating Committee; evaluates credits by exam.
- Updates student records with evaluation status and admissions requirements; maintains clear notes in the student information system.
- Stores and retrieves documents from the institution's document storage system.
- Handles telephone and email inquiries.
- Creates and submits reports as requested.
- Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:- Associate degree (Bachelor's degree desired); two (2) years of prior college or university student services experience with a student-oriented approach; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Knowledge of many areas of student services including admissions, financial aid, advising, and curriculum services.
- Knowledge of the College's programs, including analysis of transcripts, credit transfer, and articulated 2+2 programs.
- Skill in organizing, time management, solving problems, prioritizing, and implementing processes.
- Skill in researching and analyzing.
- Skill in working with Microsoft Office and Windows based applications.
- Ability to be accurate and detail oriented, multi-task, be discrete, make sound judgements, work independently, maintain confidentiality, and be self-motivated.
- Works a schedule that will meet the needs of the Department and students, which may include working until 6:30 PM as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
