Role Overview

As a Trainee Pet Groomer at PetSmart, you will create positive experiences for pet parents and their pets while receiving hands-on training from industry experts. You'll learn grooming techniques while playing a vital role in upholding our mission, values, and vision. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you will step into the role of Pet Stylist.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

• Performing a full range of grooming services under supervision, ensuring adherence to PetSmart's standards.
• Developing skills that meet or exceed safety and technical expectations.
• Recommending health and wellness solutions to pet parents based on pets' needs.
• Managing pet parent interactions and ensuring a great experience at all touchpoints.
• Greeting pet parents, addressing inquiries, and assisting in making salon reservations.
• Conducting salon appointment reminders and maintaining client records.
• Handling check-in and check-out procedures for grooming appointments smoothly.
• Promoting salon services and merchandise to contribute to sales growth.
• Maintaining a clean and safe grooming environment by following sanitation protocols.
• Acting promptly in case of pet emergencies and ensuring animal safety.
• Collaborating with other departments as needed.
• Embracing our culture of belonging and recognition.
• Adhering to all company policies and procedures.

Qualifications You'll Need to Succeed:

• Completion of PetSmart's Salon Academy training and safety certification program.
• Previous grooming experience is preferred; technical assessments may be required.
• Proficiency with computer applications.
• Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• This position requires standing, walking, climbing, and manual dexterity. You will frequently reach, stoop, kneel, and communicate.
• Capable of lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally handling more than 100 pounds with assistance.
• Expect to work in a lively environment with moving mechanical parts and exposure to pet hair.
• Exposure to live animals and handling is part of the job.
