Essential Functions Works independently or as part of a work crew in sign installation, maintenance, repair, and removal activities.Ensures the safe and proper operation of trade tools and power equipment and vehicles; adheres to prescribed safety standards and regulatory requirements.Inspects completed work for proper operation, adherence to work orders, and safety.Performs pre-trip inspection and log recording duties as prescribed by department, County, State and related regulatory standards, policies, procedures and requirements.Retrieves daily work orders, determines number of installations and loads assigned vehicle with signs and other incidental equipment and materials necessary to complete assignments.Retrieves and transports assigned work crews to sign installation locations.Participates in worksite safety set-up, e.g. setting up barricades and cones, performing traffic control in accordance with uniform work zone safety standards.Participates in the restoration of areas affected by installation operations.Performs various incidental tasks to support efficient functioning of the unit, e.g., customer service, general facilities/grounds maintenance.Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by one year of previous experience in safe and effective use of a wide variety of hand-held manual and power trades tools. Licenses and Certifications Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License; must obtain and maintain Flagging Certification within the timeframes established by the department. Additional certifications may be required based on the assignment. Physical Abilities Tasks require regularly lifting, moving, or carrying objects up to 100 pounds; ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles; utilizing feet and lefts or hands and arms; maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or navigating narrow, slippery, or erratically-moving surfaces; bend body downward and forward by bending spine and legs; move about on hands and knees or hands and feet, and to reach with hands and arms.Sensory RequirementsSome tasks require the ability to communicate orally, as well as use hands to handle or feel objects.Environmental FactorsPerformance of essential functions may require exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic substances, excessive noise, temperature extremes, dampness/humidity, and moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, and machinery.EEO StatementCobb County Government is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
