POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to develop and manage systems, processes, procedures, and logistics for planning manufacturing resources and work order management across all production operations related to each trade within our shipbuilding strategies. This includes implementing departmental objectives aligned with MMC's strategic, competitive, and internal needs, and developing controls with performance measures to monitor progress. Responsibilities include managing product breakdowns, generating and releasing work orders, inputting data, resolving planning-related issues, and developing production control processes and standards. The manager must also develop a manpower plan, coordinate staffing with HR, ensure material availability, maintain detailed schedules, and develop KPIs at the workstation level, ensuring high-quality outputs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Control operational and financial progress, and implement corrective actions in collaboration with management.
  • Coordinate resource allocation and deployment based on workload analysis.
  • Develop detailed activity programs with workshop leadership and review progress weekly.
  • Communicate key variances and trends, proposing recovery actions as needed.
  • Manage cost and schedule variances, propose corrective actions, and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Support development of the Master Schedule and activity decomposition.
  • Manage work order preparation, release, and monitoring.
  • Facilitate production planning and resolve related issues.
  • Ensure support for manufacturing logistics.
  • Oversee SOP development for production planning and ensure proper procedures are followed.
  • Interface with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Engineering to resolve issues and optimize workflows.
  • Support proposal development and customer inquiries related to production planning.
  • Develop department process metrics to monitor control.
  • Enforce organizational policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise 5 to 10 employees, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and discipline, demonstrating leadership aligned with company values.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a bachelor's degree with at least five years of related experience, or an associate's degree with seven years, or a high school diploma with nine years. Supervisory experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes with MRP/PRP systems are required. Skills include strong organizational, leadership, communication, and computer skills, along with understanding shipbuilding workflows and material flow.

  • Effective communicator, self-motivated, detail and big-picture oriented, willing to learn, and results-driven.
  • In-depth knowledge of product breakdown, BOM creation, ERP systems, reading drawings, resource-loaded scheduling, earned value analysis, and office applications.
