Track Construction Laborer (Lexington, KY) - R.J. Corman : Job Details

Responsibilities:* Perform new track construction or maintenance tasks associated with railroad tracks* Operate heavy or specialized equipment, including but not limited to skid steer, plugger, spike puller, bolt machine, compactor/ roller* Practice safe working habits and ensure proper PPE is being used* Be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions* Communicate with team and supervisor throughout the job processSpecialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:* Must be at least 18 years of age* Experience working outdoors (preferably in construction)* Mobility to participate in frequent travel to and from project location* Safety conscious with high regard to other employees working with and near equipmentPhysical Requirements:* Able to perform physical strenuous work* Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch* Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs* Requires occasional use of 30 lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50 lbs of force* Requires occasional use of 10 lb sledgehammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75 lbs of force* Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner* Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessaryEnvironmental Conditions:* Performs duties in multiple environments including outside construction project settings, in and around moving vehicles and equipment. Exposure to weather elements; must wear appropriate PPE required for the project site.Major or Unusual Problems:* Extensive travel and requirement to stay at project sites for the duration of project.
