Track and Field Assistant Coach - University of Chicago : Job Details

Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of running an NCAA Division III Track & Field program by teaching and coaching student athletes, recruiting highly selective high school athletes, developing and implementing competition strategies, and leading practices. A preferred emphasis on a background working with the jumping events.

Responsibilities:

• Writing and implementation of track and field workouts. Preferred background in the jumping events.
• Foster a positive and competitive environment.
• Recruiting of qualified student athletes.
• Comply with institutional, University Athletic Association, and NCAA rules and regulations.
• Assist in the management of home meets.
• Assist with cross-country as needed.
• Has a moderate/high level of authority to participate in staff meetings, individual planning meetings, and parent-student staffing.
• Helps staff to plan and execute events.
• Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree.
• Minimum of two years of significant and relevant playing or teaching/coaching experience in track and field at the professional, collegiate, or high school level.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Proficient in computer skills; Microsoft Office and other software.

Preferred Competencies:

• Excellent communication skills.
• Familiarity with NCAA rules and Division III philosophy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments concurrently.
