The intent and purpose of Chapter II, Article IX, of the Leon County Code of Laws is to promote, protect, and improve the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Leon County contracting for special magistrate services. The person in this role will have the authority to impose administrative fines and other noncriminal penalties to provide an equitable, expeditious, effective, and inexpensive method of enforcing the provisions of Chapter II, Article IX, of the Leon County Code of Laws. See Leon County Ordinance No. 25-05.
Accordingly, Leon County will be contracting with a qualified attorney to provide special magistrate services. This is not an employment position.

The special magistrate shall be a member of the Florida Bar in good standing with a minimum of five years' experience as an attorney.
