We are currently seeking a Thrift Store Assistant.Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Thrift Store Manager, the Thrift Store Assistant helps with the daily operation of Tri-Valley Haven's thrift store. This includes training and supporting volunteers, processing donations, cashiering, merchandising, and maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming store environment.Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Experience in retail sales or related field, with ability to effectively manage store operations and work with volunteers.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Previous Thrift Store experience strongly preferred

• Knowledge of issues related to poverty, homelessness, and violence against women and children helpful.
• Completion of minimum required Agency training within 6 months of employment.
• Ability to lift and carry 20-50 pounds.
• This is a hands-on position requiring regular lifting, bending, standing, sorting, pricing, cleaning, and customer service.
• Insured automobile that employee will use as necessary for agency related business, clean driving record.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY I. THRIFT STORE

Operate cash register, handle sales transactions, and follow cash-handling policies.

Receive, sort, clean, price, and display donated items in an organized and appealing manner.

Keep the store safe, clean, and free of clutter/unprocessed donations.

Assist with donation intake and maintain accurate donation logs and receipts.

Estimate value of donated merchandise and ensure consistent pricing.

Open and close the store as assigned.

Maintain strong store presentation and encourage a positive shopping experience.

II. VOLUNTEER SUPPORT

Supervise, train, and support volunteers assisting in the store.

Foster positive, respectful relationships with volunteers and customers.

Supervise volunteers in the absence of the Thrift Store Manager.

III. GENERAL DUTIES Solicit in-kind donations as needed.

Attend required meetings and trainings.

Represent Tri-Valley Haven in a professional and courteous manner.

Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Thrift Store Manager or the Director of Homeless and Family Support Services.
