Job Location : North Providence,RI, USA
Provides therapeutic recreational services to patients of all ages including adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients who are referred. Evaluates the therapeutic recreational needs of the patient, develops goals and treatment plans in conjunction with the patient and family/significant other, executes the treatment program, provides education to patients, families, and caregivers, and supervises therapeutic recreation students in compliance with hospital, national, and state regulatory policies.
Education: Bachelor of Science (4 year Therapeutic Recreation Degree) or Bachelor of Arts (4 year degree related field to Therapeutic Recreation) and specific courses taken in Recreation and Therapeutic Recreation (Equivalency Academic Process). Licensure: Certification by the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation (NCTRC) as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist; Current certification in CPR. No state licensure required.
Experience: Experience in an inpatient rehabilitation setting preferred. Therapeutic recreation theory, evaluation, and treatment techniques, group dynamics, activity analysis, and ability to develop a therapeutic relationship with a variety of patients.
Skills and Abilities:
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, twisting, stretching, and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 30 lbs.
