Theology/ Open-rank Professor - Tenure Track in New TestamentLocation: Notre Dame, INOpen Date: Jul 23, 2025 Deadline: Oct 13, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern TimeDescription:The Department of Theology at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, invites applications for an open-ranked professorship in New Testament. Possible position titles include Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The successful candidate will be a member of the department's Christianity and Judaism in Antiquity area, which concentrates on the formation, meaning, and interpretation of Jewish and Christian scripture in the ancient world with a strong emphasis on the historical and linguistic skills required to engage in this study. The starting date for this position will be August 25, 2026. Responsibilities will include research and publication; teaching and mentoring students at all levels (doctoral, pre-doctoral, ministerial, and undergraduate); and service to the department and university. The successful candidate will show evidence of a field-leading contribution to the field of New Testament studies, as well as a capacity to engage the intellectual mission of the department as a whole. They will also be sympathetic to the mission of the University of Notre Dame, which seeks a distinctive educational and scholarly excellence that is founded on its Catholic identity. A PhD or equivalent in biblical studies, theology, or a closely related discipline is required.
