A Day in the Life
Our mandate is to provide support toward the development of the current and next generation client robotic-assisted surgical system. You will be involved in assembling and maintaining test fixtures used to verify the functionality of the product. Part of this role is a support function for internal customers of the Engineering Services group. In that role you will maintain and troubleshoot issues with fixtures as reported by those customers.
You will:
Work within the Client -Covidien R&D engineering team to develop and support test fixtures for the robotically assisted minimally invasive surgical platform.
Focus on test fixture mechanical assembly and maintenance.
Assemble and wire industrial machinery and equipment, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments from mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams.
Update and Maintain industrial style wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.
Wire/Troubleshoot test fixtures according to company and NFPA guidelines.
Mechanically Assemble/Maintain test fixtures utilizing motion and control systems including but not limited to Galil, Delta Tau, LabVIEW, Allen Bradley, etc..
the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Must have: Minimum qualifications:
An Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or Military Background and 5+ years of relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree is required.
Recent experience assembling/maintaining test fixtures.
Experience reading industrial wiring diagrams.
Working knowledge of Lockout Tagout procedures.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and determine a root cause.
Ability to create a Bill of Materials (BOM) from wiring and assembly diagrams.
Nice to have:
Soldering certification
Experience with Galil, Delta Tau, and Allen Bradley control systems.
A passion for learning new things and enjoys variety.
Excellent communication and teaming skills.
Working Conditions:
Standard Office/ Assembly shop setting in the North Haven, CT.
This position requires a person to be able to lift small loads and the ability to use had tools in a fabrication environment.
Work travel is anticipated to be low for this position;.
