Test Technician

We are seeking a skilled Test Technician to assist in building three new prototypes over a three-month period. The ideal candidate will support the Test Team in developing and commissioning test solutions, ensuring the execution of test qualifications according to specific system processes.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Test Team in developing and commissioning test solutions.
  • Execute test qualifications for fixtures and programs according to specific processes.
  • Manage preventative maintenance and proper operation of test lab equipment.
  • Handle electronic test records efficiently.
  • Perform hands-on mechanical fabrication and assembly using hand and power tools.
  • Assist in calibration services on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Chart Recorders.
  • Interpret test system schematics and construct test systems using appropriate components.
  • Fabricate stainless-steel tubing, including cutting, bending, and flaring.
  • Conduct testing using gases (Nitrogen and Helium) and water.
  • Perform tests at ambient, extreme cold, and hot temperatures.
  • Read, interpret, and record test data accurately.
  • Maintain assembly and test setups in good working order.
  • Essential Skills
    • Experience in prototype design and test engineering.
    • Proficiency in prototype assembly and test fixtures.
    • Experience with thermal testing and schematics.
    • Ability to interpret, prepare, and execute test procedures from written instructions.
    • Experience in instrumentation installation and checkout (e.g., strain gauge application, sensor calibration, thermocouple installation).
    • Experience in building and troubleshooting test setups and test fixtures.
    • Experience operating benchtop test stands (e.g., leak check carts, water flow, thermal chambers).
    • Proven ability to follow and execute test plans safely.
    • Proficiency in stainless tube assemblies and Swagelok/compression tube fittings.
    • Understanding of the functions and safe operation of valves, regulators, actuators, and seals.
    Additional Skills & Qualifications
    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred.
    • Experience with leak and pressure testing preferred.
    • Experience with hazardous fluid testing (e.g., cryogenic) preferred.
    • Experience setting up and running data acquisition systems (DAQ), programming, and recording test data with instruments like pressure transducers, flowmeters, and thermocouples preferred.

    Job Type & Location

    This is a Contract position based out of Los Angeles, California.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
