The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of south Los Angeles neighborhoods.The Test Proctor ensures the secure and fair administration of exams for Student Accessibility Services at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. This role involves supervising test takers, monitoring exam environments for compliance with rules, managing test materials, and addressing issues that arise during examinations while implementing required accommodations for health professional students with disabilities.Key ResponsibilitiesExam Administration & Security

  • Prepares physical testing spaces and/or virtual environments for exam administration
  • Observes and enforces college, state/federal, and test agency policies for security and confidentiality of testing records
  • Adheres to FERPA regulations as they relate to the College and testing services
  • Verifies student identification and records student sign-in to the Study and Testing Center
  • Monitors exam conduct, including preventing unauthorized use of external devices or software
  • Secures the testing environment through direct observation, security cameras, lockdown browsers, or proctoring software
  • Reports any irregularities immediately to the Director or Manager
Student Support & Accommodations
  • Implements individual disability accommodations, which may include:
    • Scribing for students
    • Reading exam content aloud
    • Providing enlarged materials
    • Facilitating other required special accommodations
  • Explains test rules and procedures clearly to all students
  • Responds promptly and professionally to issues that arise during exams (technical problems, medical emergencies, etc.)
Materials Management
  • Reviews test materials for accuracy and completeness before distribution
  • Reads from programmatic scripts before examinations as needed
  • Collects and secures all test materials at the conclusion of testing periods
QualificationsEducation:
  • Associate's degree in business administration or related field.
  • Completion of one year of standardized test administration; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved
Skills/Experience
  • Knowledge and awareness of effective testing practices
  • Understanding of academic integrity policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with accessibility accommodations and inclusive practices
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional conduct
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication abilities with diverse student populations
  • Required to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time while administering exams
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working with proctoring software, including Elsevier Evolve (Secure Assessment Browser), Proctorio, JAWS, NVDA, Kurzweil 3000, Dragon Dictation, Otter AI, and CCTV.
Compensation
  • $27.12 - $32 per hour/Non-Exempt
