Position Title: Territory Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Automation & Reliability

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop application knowledge for all primary products and services responsibilities in the assigned territory, including:
    • Emerson Automation Solutions Products (DeltaV, DeltaV SIS, Syncade, etc.)
    • Emerson Reliability Solutions Products (CSi Equipment, etc.)
    • Third Party Products or Buyouts (PLCs, MCC, Cabinetry, Field Instrumentation, etc.)
    • Emerson Automation Solutions Services (Automation Engineering, Virtualization, Commissioning, etc.)
    • Emerson Reliability Solutions Services (CSi Implementation, Data Collection & Analysis, etc.)
    • Control Southern Services (Automation Engineering, Installed Base Support, Commissioning, E&I Design, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities, develop pursuit strategies, and organize the sales team(s).
  • Develop and maintain strategic account plans, competitive analysis, and strategies for new or prospective customers.
  • Lead the sales team in all applicable activities, which may include Territory Managers, Solutions Architects, Customer Support Specialists, Business Unit Leaders, Account Managers, Engineers, or Engineering Managers.
  • Lead internal pursuit strategies and proposal reviews.
  • Identify and qualify initial projects, develop proposals, and serve as project pursuit team lead.
  • Manage relationships with Emerson Automation Solutions Business Development personnel for project pursuits.
  • Collaborate with Emerson Automation Solutions to develop strategic account and pursuit plans.
  • Utilize consultative selling techniques according to Control Southern methodologies.
  • Coordinate internal project hand-offs with sales, customer support, and engineering teams.

    Up to 50% overnight travel may be required.

    Physical Demands:
    • Effective communication through speaking and listening.
    • Ability to detect, determine, and distinguish by sight.
    • Walk and/or climb at customer sites.
    Qualifications:

    Minimum 5 years of experience in a process industry or manufacturing environment preferred. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.S.) or equivalent is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous sales experience is preferred.

    • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet programs (e.g., Excel, Word).
    • Familiarity with database programs (e.g., IFS, Salesforce, Outlook) is preferable.
    • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written) are required.
    • Must be customer-focused.
