Location: Boston, MA | Hybrid

Hourly Rate: $35-$45/hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday | ~6+ months

About the Opportunity

A local public agency is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Temporary Compensation Analyst to support their compensation team. This hybrid role is ideal for someone with superior Excel and analytical capabilities who can quickly learn and apply compensation best practices, pricing strategies, and market analysis to support internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive compensation benchmarking and market pricing analysis using salary surveys and internal data sources
  • Develop and update job descriptions in collaboration with department leaders to reflect accurate roles and responsibilities
  • Support the annual compensation planning cycle, including merit increase analysis, base pay budgets, and incentive planning
  • Review proposed salary adjustments for alignment with internal equity and compensation guidelines
  • Prepare and present analytical compensation reports to leadership and assist in pay grade recommendations and implementation
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and compensation frameworks while providing consultative support on salary-related decisions
  • Create, maintain, and distribute compensation-related documents, including job codes, salary matrices, and benchmarking reports

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in compensation plans/analysis, pricing jobs according to market and internal data, and compensation structure
  • Strong knowledge of market pricing, salary structures, and internal equity practices
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data modeling)
  • Ability to analyze complex datasets and present insights in a clear, strategic manner
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively
