The Fresno Regional Workforce Development Board (FRWDB) is seeking a highly motivated and detailed-oriented Bookkeeper for a 45-month assignment. Under the general direction of the Accounting Manager, the Temporary Bookkeeper will perform a variety of bookkeeping and accounting-related duties. These responsibilities include managing accounts payable, performing data entry, overseeing purchasing activities, and assisting with the preparation of general ledger reports and reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for certain accounts payables functions including but not limited to comparing purchase orders with invoices, hand checks, invoice distribution, keying & balancing payables, printing & sorting checks, and filing payables paid.
  • Assist with month-end financials, journal entry preparation, and other general ledger accounting functions.
  • Assist with the preparation of all financial and statistical reports as directed by the Controller.
  • File, type, send facsimiles, answer the telephone, send and receive mail, and other accounting department functions as requested.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
  • Create subsidiary expense from the payables; i.e. consultants, meals, etc.
  • Assist with proper recording of cash receipts.
  • Prepare month-end balances for posting to the general ledger.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Associates or bachelors degree in accounting or closely related field or 3 years of relevant experience.
  • 3 years of experience using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), computer bookkeeping systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have experience utilizing QuickBooks Online.
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to work well under deadlines pressure while maintaining attention to detail.

Position offers competitive paybetween $22 - $24 per hour dependent on experience.
