JOB SUMMARY:
To provide specialized advanced technical skills in all technical aspects of the telemetry monitoring system.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
o Admits, transfers, and discharges patient and enters all required information in telemetry monitoring system.
o Adjusts alarms.
o Reviews trends and alarms.
o Cleans and maintains telemetry monitors/holders and accounts for monitor upon patient discharge.
o Accounts for all monitors at the end of each assigned shift.
o Orders monitoring supplies.
o Obtains and documents rhythm strips per unit/department standards
o Maintains log book on all monitored patients.
o Interprets EKG rhythms.
o Recognizes significant EKG events.
o Communicates information to the responsible individual within an appropriate time frame.
o Immediately reports significant or life threatening changes to a RN.
o Performs daily quality checks of freestanding cardio-defibrillators.
o Ensures that equipment has current electrical and maintenance inspections.
o Reports all malfunctioning equipment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of EMT – Paramedic program or graduation from related allied health sciences program or one (1) year related experience. Passing score of 80% or higher of UTMB's arrhythmia test.
